Michael Van Staagen
MVP Designer
Aircraft, one simple word, describes Mike’s lifelong enthusiastic passion. Since the age of 5, Mike has been designing and building all kinds of flying objects. A hands-on fix everything upbringing combined with extensive schooling in theory and principles of design, Mike uniquely looks at the world from both the user’s and builder’s perspective. In 1993, Mike joined Cirrus and shared in the development of the world’s best-selling SR series airplanes leading both the fuselage and interior design teams through certification and hi-rate production. Beginning in 2001, Mike envisioned, penned and co-led Cirrus’s Advanced Development team to create the revolutionary Vision SF50 single engine jet. Mike has also created world-class solutions in cockpit and vehicle design for Sikorsky Aircraft and assisted Kestrel Aircraft in fine tuning aspects of their human-centric design. Mike is both a fixed wing and rotary wing pilot.

Benjamin Dwyer
Engineering Manager
For over 25 years Benjamin has sought to thoroughly understand all aspects of composites, and is passionate about using his expertise of this diverse and complex material to tackle the most demanding challenges. For the past 15 years he has led research and development of aerospace composite materials and structures encompassing design, processing, analysis, testing, and manufacturing. In recent years his primary focus has been on general-aviation composite aircraft, including with Kestrel Aircraft Company providing composite expertise and leading development of the K350’s primary airframe structures. Prior, he spent more than a decade developing next-generation aerospace composites for customers such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Missile Systems, NASA, Missile Defense Agency, Air Force, Army, and Navy. Before focusing his career on aerospace composites, he gained a wealth of structures experience as an engineer responsible for detailed design and analysis of multi-storied buildings, bridges, and other life-critical structures. He started his professional career as a physicist performing fundamental materials modeling and simulations. Benjamin studied Composite Materials & Structures at the University of Washington’s William E. Boeing department of Aeronautics & Astronautics, and Physics and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maine. He is motivated to help bring the MVP to market quickly and efficiently so he can own one to enjoy with his family in pursuit of their love for outdoor adventure.

Roger Walsberg
Design and Engineering
“Machines are dynamic puzzles that have their own beauty and life. It’s a pleasure to get to know them on their terms”
Roger has been designing products for many different industries ranging from heavy machinery to aircraft. He has been pulling in the best ideas across industry boundaries for over 25 years. He started his professional career by building and running a snowboard manufacturing business with 22 employees, creating and building many of the manufacturing machines used. This experience has given him a keen eye and focus on designing items for efficient manufacture. Throughout his career, he has consistently reduced cost and effort, making products simple, attractive and more affordable. Now, specializing in mechanisms and mechanical systems, he succeeds in blending all his experiences with motion, taking the puzzle to the next level.
In his personal life, Roger has endless projects in queue; a family business to run, taking cross country motorcycle trips, scuba diving and learning to fly. It would all be impossible without the help of his wife and children.

Mark Felling
Director – Business Development
Mark’s passion for aviation started when, at the age of 3, he memorized the order of the planets in preparation to become an astronaut. The space program slowed, but that did not stop him from flying. In 2003, Mark’s Dragonfly aircraft suffered an engine failure immediately after takeoff, forcing a landing in the trees of the Minnesota River Valley, resulting in a spinal cord injury and a change in perspective.
Being a strong spirit, just weeks out of ICU, Mark decided he would need to create a wheelchair-friendly airplane. Life interrupted with many smaller, more pressing daily challenges and pushed him to start inventing solutions for himself and others. His company, Broadened Horizons, has since introduced hundreds of products empowering thousands worldwide. Guided by a background user interfaces and teaching quality to high-tech companies around the world, Mark focuses on innovative simplicity to maximize compatibility, reliability, and intuitive ease of use.

“I am extremely excited by the MVP team’s enthusiasm and commitment to inclusivity. I look forward to completing the goal I set for myself 10 years ago to be the first quad to fly into Airventure as pilot in command. Limitations are only perceived. The horizon is the limit of our perception. We cannot help but broaden our horizons when we change what we perceive as a limitation! Come fly with me beyond YOUR horizons!”

Boschwitz Associates
Rudy has served in a variety of elected and appointed Federal Positions. He was elected to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota in 1978 and served until 1991. During his 2 terms in the Senate, he served on the Agriculture, Budget, Foreign Affairs and Small Business Committees. During his second term in the Senate, he was elected to the Republican Leadership met at the White House with President Reagan about 50 or 60 times, which he calls the “high point of his Senate years”. Because of his business background, Rudy brought a different perspective to the Senate which was mostly made up of lawyers who excelled in negotiating through Senate rules but never had to meet a payroll. He sponsored legislation favoring less government and more free enterprise such as “decoupling” or reducing farmer’s dependence on government subsidies. Shortly after his career in the Senate, Rudy was asked by then President George H.W. Bush to act as an Emissary and lead an American Diplomatic Mission to Ethiopia with the goals of bringing an end to the civil war, ridding the country of its despotic ruler and arranging for the airlift to Israel of the Falashas, the 14,000 Black Jews of Ethiopia. The mission accomplished all three goals. This lead Rudy and his diplomatic team to be awarded the Citizen Medal in a Rose Garden Ceremony conducted by President George H. W. Bush. In 2005, Rudy was appointed by President George W. Bush as the Ambassador to the United Nations’ Human Rights Commission in Geneva, Switzerland.
